    Step1  Warm-up
    1. Ask students what animals they are in the Chinese horoscope. Ask them to describe the characteristics of that animal.
    Which animal do you like best?
    What animal sign are you?
    What characters do you think it has?
    2.Write the English names of the Chinese star signs on the board.
    Rat (鼠)             Ox (牛)           Tiger (虎)
    Rabbit (兔)           Dragon(龙)        Snake (蛇)
    Horse (马)           Goat (羊)          Monkey (猴)
    Rooster (鸡)          Dog (狗)          Pig (猪)
    3. Explain that western countries use a different system of star signs. Explain that he western star sign system is based on the month you were born in, rather than the year you were born in.
    Step2  Comic strip
    1. Everyone has his or her own star sign. Through reading your star sign, you can discover a great deal of information about yourself. It can tell you something about your abilities, talents and special qualities. Eddie and Hobo are also talking about star signs. Listen to their conversation carefully, and then answer the question: What do Eddie's stars say today? (It says Eddie will have lots to eat and drink today.)
    2. Play the tape again, and ask the students to repeat it, then answer more questions.
    1) Who brings Eddie the newspaper?  ( Hobo.)
    2) What does Hobo ask Eddie to read? Why?
    ( Hobo asks Eddie to read his stars because it is very interesting.)
    3) What happens to Eddie's breakfast at the end of the story?   ( Hobo eats it.)
    3. Ask the students to read the dialogue together and give them five minutes to practice in pairs. Then ask several pairs to act it out.
    4. Language points:
    It's nice of you to do….       It is +adj.(形容词)+ of sb.+ to do sth.    
    It says….  表示报纸上"写道……",我们通常不说 It writes…
    worry about (not) doing sth.    worry about doing sth.  "为做…担心"
    Step3  Welcome to the unit
    1. Show the six pictures in part A. Explain to students that each picture represents a star sign. Present and teach the new words: bull, centaur, crab, ram.
    2. Ask them to complete Part A, then discuss the answers as a class.
    3. Play a guessing game.
    1) It lives in rivers and uses its fins and tail to swim. (fish)
    2) It is a large, yellow and brown animal of the cat family, mainly living in Africa and parts of Southern Asia. The male has long, thick hair around its neck. (lion)
    3) It is a creature in ancient Greek stories, with a man's head, arms and upper body on a horse's body and legs.  (centaur)
    4) It is a sea creature with a shell, eight legs and two large pointed arms for catching things. It moves sideways on land.  (crab)
    4. Ask students to complete Part B. Explain that there are 12 star signs in total--- those in Part A and those in Part B. Each star sign represents a period of time in a year.
    3. Ask students whether they know what their star sign is. Encourage them to say the name of their star sign aloud.
